The Central Hockey League (formerly CJHL) is pleased to announce that the 2012 Fred Page Cup (FPC) will be hosted by the Kanata Stallions. The four team Championship will consist of the winners from the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL), Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League, the CHL Tier One league champion and the host team (Kanata Stallions). Lou Nistico, GM of the Kanata Stallions was thrilled with the decision “our organization is very excited and we’re confident that we will host an outstanding week.” The Stallions will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, Nistico adds, “hosting the Fred Page Cup will now take it over the top and make the year that much more special for our franchise.” The Stallions will also leverage the experience of Event Chair Tony House (Corporate Hype) who has played an integral role in numerous local hockey championships. In fact both Nistico and House have already recruited a solid nucleus for their Host Organizing Committee.

Kevin Abrams, President of the Central Hockey League (CHL) thinks the league will definitely benefit from having the Fred Page Cup in Ottawa. “It’s probably been long overdue but the timing is right with the Stallions and I think they’ll do a great job of hosting this event.” Abrams also feels the league and especially the City teams can all build on the FPC momentum, “there will be a lot of attention and hype over the next two years around Jr. A hockey in Ottawa which can only help growing our brand in the Ottawa hockey community.” The FPC showcases the best Jr. A teams in Eastern Canada with the winner joining four other teams in the RBC Cup where a National Champion is crowned.

ADAM DEWAN NAMED NEW HEAD COACH OF THE KANATA STALLIONS

After serving as an Assistant Coach with the Ottawa 67's of the OHL, Adam Dewan is back in Kanata. A product of the Kanata minor hockey system, Dewan went on to play in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes and spent seven years in pro hockey, where he attended the Edmonton Oilers training camp in 2003. Dewan is a teacher of the game and is exactly what the Stallions need for the upcoming season. With a young line-up projected to be iced this season, Dewan will be looked upon for his leadership and experience to lead the charge.

Stallions management is thrilled to bring the highly-sought after Dewan to the organization and look forward to seeing his systems implemented and philosophies applied. With a strong resume of playing and coaching under his belt, Adam is expected to instil some much needed cohesion within the Stallions organization.  The 30 year old, Dewan, has a no-nonsense approach to coaching and demands respect and discipline on all levels.  He played the game tough and will expect the same from his players, but will ensure the Stallions maintain a disciplined approach to the season.

Alex Armstrong will stay on as Dewan's Assistant Coach and a second assistant will be added shortly.
